The Fes Desert Tour 2 Days starts with an earl pickup from your accommodation or airport and journey through the beautiful Middle Atlas Mountains which offers a welcome visual change of pace. First, we pause in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine-style architecture and exceptional cleanliness it’s also home to Al al-Qarawiyyin University. Then we head to the Cedar Forest to see wild Barbary apes. The journey continues via the apple capital of Midelt and along the stunning peaks of the Middle Atlas Mountains. In the late afternoon, we arrive Merzouga, where you will ride camels and take a one-hour trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi before reaching your desert camp. Enjoy a breathtaking sunset over the endless sands and spend the night sleeping under the stars.
After breakfast in Sahara Desert, we leave Merzouga and begin our journey back to Fes. The first stop is Rissani, famous for its vibrant medieval market and as the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty. From there, continue to Erfoud, a town renowned for its fossils and sweet dates. The road then winds through the stunning Ziz Valley, with its lush palm groves and dramatic gorges, before crossing Er-Rich. By afternoon, we reach Midelt, a small berber city known as the capital of apple, after passing the city we will drive through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains.
Along the way, if you wish we can stop again in Azrou’s famous Cedar Forest, home to lively Barbary macaque monkeys. Here you can take a short walk and capture memorable photos.
